When it comes to volume of passengers at Malaga Airport, EasyJet is right up there at number three in terms of its importance to to the Costa del Sol for transporting tourists to the area.
They have now re-opened their base for handling summer operations at the airport to over fifteen international destinations across Europe. This will add some 1.8 million additional seats during the peak season, all of which kicked off on 26th March. EasyJet will now base 4 of its aircraft at Malaga Airport.
The general director for southern Europe, Javier Gandara is quoted as saying
Malaga has always been a great bet for the company. Its seasonally based model allows us to strengthen existing markets and create new routes based on what our clients ask us for, as well as contributing to local employment in a key season.
EasyJet has always had an operations centre at Malaga Airport since it was first set up back in 2021 during each summer season. The new routes the operation centre will now mean that routes from Malaga to Europe will include access to Amsterdam, Basel, Belfast, Berlin Brandenburg, Bristol, Geneva, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Luton, London Southend, London Gatwick, Lyon, Manchester, Milan Malpensa and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Although many of the routes will look familiar, Lyon is a new route and from 3rd June it will offer flights on a Tuesday and a Saturday.
